The statements below summarize the historic teachings of Scripture. A fuller explanation is explored in our Heritage Essentials class.
We believe the Bible is God’s inspired and trustworthy Word and our final authority for faith and life. There is one God who exists eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man who lived a sinless life, died for our sins, rose bodily from the grave, and will return again. The Holy Spirit brings conviction, new life, and ongoing transformation in believers. Humanity is created in God’s image but is fallen in sin and separated from God apart from Christ. Salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone and results in a transformed life. The church is the body of Christ expressed in local congregations gathered for worship, teaching, fellowship, and mission. God created humanity male and female, and marriage is the covenant union of one man and one woman. Jesus will return personally and bodily, bringing eternal life to believers and judgment to those who reject Him.
Heritage Church follows a biblical pattern of elder-led, congregationally governed church life. Where Elders shepherd the church by teaching Scripture, guarding doctrine, and providing spiritual oversight. The Pastor-Teacher serves as an elder with the primary responsibility for preaching and leadership. Deacons lead through service by meeting practical needs and supporting the elders. The congregation affirms key decisions in the life of the church, including recognizing leaders, receiving members, calling pastors, approving budgets, and matters of church discipline. This shared responsibility reflects the New Testament pattern and helps guard the health and unity of the church.
